Boulder marijuana grow fined $14,000 for smell

(DenverPost) For the second time in a month, a marijuana grow in north Boulder has been cited for violating odor regulations and now owes $14,000 in fines. Dandelion Grow, which is owned by the same group representing Native Roots Dispensary, the largest pot chain and license holder in Colorado, was given two-months to address the issue, but the business “elected not to make the necessary changes to come into compliance,” said city spokeswoman Sarah Huntley. Boulder’s enforcement of marijuana odor regulations, which state that no odor should be detectable from the outside a pot business, is based purely on citizen complaints. In Dandelion’s case, there were many. The aging facility’s air control is so poor that neighbors say its emitted skunky odor often wafts a block or more away into homes.
