New Event Series Supporting Cannabis & Minority Communities Coming to LA
Last Sunday, July 16 we travelled to Downtown LA to a new premier cannabis lounge in the shadow of the Staples Center for the Tapas & Buds- a Latin themed, monthly cannabis lifestyle event. At the unique Alchemy Lounge [x] we were welcomed into a new style of event celebrating the diversity that supports the cannabis community from businesses to patients. Tapas & Buds is a social gathering created by Fanny Guzman and Gabrial Guzman of Latinos for Cannabis. Latinos for Cannabis is an educational and inspirational advocacy group creating social engagement avenues for enabling access to the cannabis community from the social, economic and medicinal benefits.
Latinos for Cannabis [x] are no strangers to hosting events from pop up campaigns to mixers and business lectures. Tapas & Buds is a new series that will be reoccurring once a month where the community can meet each other, create allies appreciating the wide variety of benefits cannabis brings to the greater Los Angeles community.
Lots to see, lots to toke, lots to talk & mingle
One of the first stand-out featured Latinas we recently covered in our Culinary and Cannabis Canna-Classes series is our RockStar Chefz - Chef Millie Fernandez. [x] She was hosting with her Red Eye Edibles CBD Jello Shots. Everyone was with one in hand and teetering between getting more delicious tapas in the cannabis mini marketplace featuring latino or minority owned businesses or in the Alchemy smoking lounge. Illuminated by the giant wall of glass- the ancient temple motif of the lounge created a cozy backdrop to a vibing beat for toking to by DjEddieBoy [x].
Group of Attendees Mixing and Mingling with Cannabis at the Alchemy Smoke Lounge We were passed individually our own joints by Ocean Goods [x] distribution alongside all of the attendees. It was awesome to be in a place where we were all toking on dank together and enjoying this accepting environment. While feeling more at ease and ready to mingle we were introduced to edibles, topicals and concentrates.
Mr. & Mrs. WPD enjoy the complimentary joints provided by Ocean Goods The first that caught my eye was a little more subtle, a more authentic vegan organic option to edibles ranging from chocolate to granola, Holistic Love Edibles [x] had delightful refreshing crunchy granola with no fresh cut grass taste. The sweet and nutty taste was the right amount of microdosing to accompany any meal or snack.
Papa & Barkley Releaf Soak The smell of salt and eucalyptus oil wafted in the air from the following booth from Papa & Barkley [x], a brand that I have been meaning to speak with and it was great to have it in such an intimate environment. While sampling their soothing Releaf Massage oil that is a 3:1 THC:CBD 60ml oil I got to learn about the crisp smelling Releaf Soak sitting on display made with Dead Sea salts imported from Isreal. There are a lot of different products produced by Papa & Barkley that we can’t wait to hopefully try such as their THC:CBD Releaf Patches. They were already sold out! Keep an eye out for our review of their Releaf Balm, we are looking for new opportunities to integrate cannabis in our routine.
Rounding out the night, samplings of Raw Vegan Cannabis infused treats by Betty Khronic [x] were being passed out that were low dose 10mg peanut butter bars. They were also soy free and preservative free, being our first sampling of the product we were content feeling comfortable enjoying a bite while listening to some amazing music from Brian King Joseph [x] in the smoking lounge.

Cannabis featuring for members of the Alchemy Lounge LA. Tapas & Buds is a unique event that will be happening at different venues on different days once a month throughout Southern California. We highly recommend attending if you are a latino or minority or even an ally that wants to be engaged in the social dialogue and culture surrounding the cannabis community.
