Thus far

So let’s recap, for my sake, because I’m been too high on sickness, weed, and alka-seltzers.

Redid the US cannabis law guide, visually and information. The last two sources I used got scrapped, as they were outdated and inaccurate. Now it’s up to date with the latest information, and the links are actually useful. Not to mention the graphic is looking easy to understand and sexy:

Nearly finished with the Franco vector. Everything’s done and coloured, other than the facial hair. Needs a background, maybe some typeface, and it’ll be ready to go. Also, Franco looks freaky without facial hair:

To buffer the time between me finishing this Franco design, I designed a simple typographic based print – “Smoke Weed Every Day”. It’s a simple concept I had floating around in my head for a while and I saw something that struck me with serendipity – leading to it’s creation:

Fixed the mobile version the website. With the recent design changes I made, I threw off the mobile design completely. The content was cut off, objects were overlaying, it was a mess. Now everything’s lined up and fit in properly. There’s still a lot to be done, but it’s actually usable now:

Queued up the Tumblr. I’ve been falling behind on that a bit, as I’ve been focusing primarily on original content. Went through Instagram, Reddit, and the submissions and was able to fill up the queue. Working on answering more questions too, GIFs and actual responses. I’m planning on changing the answering style slowly as well. Keeping up with ads up for the stoner shop and our sponsor.

And of course, plenty of photos and videos to edit and upload soon. As well as GIFs to compose, articles to edit, and more programming!

That’s it I think.

Redesigned the Strain DB. For now.

Redesigned the Strain DB.

For now.

The focus was just to slim it down and keep the name as readable as possible. The icons follow the same theme as the new icons on the website. And I finally accomplished what I always wanted to for cannabinoid ratings(THC, CBD, etc). When you roll over the bar graph you’ll see any available THC/CBD/CBN levels.

Still have to make it look nice in mobile, but for now I’m content with the desktop version.

I’m looking to expand the database to include more data for each strain, like the medical uses, grow time, average yield, etc. When that time comes, it’ll call for another redesign.

Just got my goodie bag from @CoralReefer420

Just got my goodie bag from @CoralReefer420 for asking her a @StoneySunday question. Much love for Coral, she fit quite the treasure trove into stealthy package. A hemp wick from Humboldt Hemp Wicks (as well as a magnet!), a shiny bag for the stash, and 2 Humidipaks to keep my lady Mary Jane moist (sadly one burst during shipping, you can see the stain on Coral’s business card). And a shout out to SumoSmoker for throwing in some swag as well.

Slow day

New logo’s up on the website and Tumblr. Updated the Tumblr theme to look like the website and to add needed functionality. I’ll be tweaking it a bit more soon, adding more noticeable links to the ask box and such.

Slowly cementing my idea of what I’d like the new WPD update to be. Focusing more on original content and finally leaving Tumblr be. Sticking to a fairly similar layout. After days of sketching, tinkering, and experimenting, I can’t seem to alter the layout dramatically without either over simplifying or looking completely jank. I tried copying content layouts from other sites to see if they’d look better than what I’d though of, and each and every one doesn’t work with my content architecture.

Every WordPress site out there has content setup very simply: title, featured image/custom excerpt, post date, author, and a comment link. The problem with WPD? The title is essentially an except of the content text, the author doesn’t matter, and the featured image aspect is only for featured images – not for every post(I don’t have that kind of time). So what the WPD content ends up looking like is basically Tumblr. A picture, a caption, and some tags. Very sparse depending on how it’s laid out. All my edits looked like old revisions of WPD:

With this discovery(or really, admission of defeat), I decided to stick with the current layout. I’ll be reorganizing some elements, but for the most part, the site’s wireframe won’t look drastically different. Overall I’m happy with the way the redesign’s going.

Edited up some more WPDTV. I’ll render it tonight before I go to bed. Got plenty of videos to edit, I’m just waiting to dive in completely. Each new project is an experiment in editing. No new episodes planned yet, but I still have to edit the MFLB episode I shot with @MrsWPD.

Other than that, slow day.
